Moraine City First Church of God Leadership
Moraine City First Church of God is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. The following are brief bio's of our leadership team and their qualifications for ministry.
I am a husband, father, grandfather, brother and a son-in-law, but most importantly to me...I am a follower of my Lord Jesus. I am forgiven and I strive to serve Him each day He gives me. I look back to be reminded where He brought me from and realize how very Blessed I am. I live in the present to serve and grow. I look to the future because I know this is not all there is to life. I am currently serving as the leader of the men's ministry at Moraine City.
I am married to Pastor Donald Curtis and we have two beautiful girls and a very active 10 year old boy. I have three grandsons that have completely changed my life. I was raised in church and had the best parents in the world. I am so thankful for my Godly heritage.
I am also a huge Kentucky Wildcat basketball fan.
I believe God has prepared us and called us to Moraine City at this particular time in our lives (Esther 4:14) and it is an honor to be the president of our Women’s group.
Gene & Willa Tomlin
Music Ministry Leaders
Gene has been the Church’s Choir Director for many years and was recently appointed the leader of the Music Ministry along with his wife, Willa. Side by side, they have a lifetime of experience in southern gospel music and believe their calling is to bring the message of Christ through meaningful music and worship where hearts and lives can be changed. Gene was the lead singer of the Caananland Singers and traveled throughout Ohio, Indiana, and Kentucky during his years with them. Willa is a “PK” (preacher’s kid) whose family of 4 always had a gospel quartet, began singing on the radio at age 5, and at churches where her father pastored. Together, they are the Music Leadership Team and strive to encourage all ages to share and grow their talents by uplifting Christ through music and song.
I was not raised in church but, when God spoke through a preacher at a local revival...directly to me, there was no turning back.
I "church surfed” for a couple of years until I walked into Moraine City First Church of God in the spring of 2000, at that point with my newborn daughter, Amanda, and 2 year old son, Brendon, in tow. Immediately, I knew I found my church home. I spent a few years keeping the kids occupied with goldfish crackers and coloring books, then I was invited to a discipleship class...that changed everything!
I re-dedicated my life and began teaching Sunday School, then in the Youth ministry and got involved with the women's group. In 2018, we found a need for a Media Ministry at Moraine City and since my background is in radio & TV broadcasting.. well here I am! I'm thrilled to serve in this ministry that takes the life-changing message of Jesus as He is, to people where they are!

Hello, I’m Bart Gardner, and I’m 71 years young. I was born in Germany to American parents and was a military brat which might explain why my wife, Debra, and I are both retired military. I served 30 years in the Air Force and Debra served 25 years in the Air Force. We have two daughters and five grandchildren. They all live out of state.
We settled in Dayton in 1992. We have been attending Moraine City First Church of God for about 10 years. We absolutely love our church family.
I am also involved in a cat rescue organization called Samaritans for Strays even though I’m allergic to cats!
I read a lot, help out at church as much as I can, and Deb and I enjoy eating out and going to an occasional movie. We’re kind of home bodies.
I was raised in church in Kentucky. It was the best part of my childhood memories. We had a large youth group and we supported each other all through our teen years. I was saved at 9 years old and experienced God's wonderful power at an early age. I learned through prayer that God heals and changes lives, even if you are only 10 years old. It was at that time that I knew I wanted to help other children understand that God is always listening to you and there for you when no one her on earth can help. I carried that passion throughout my life.
I worked for the local school system in the Multi-Handicapped room for over 12 years. I took this opportunity and love for children to try and make a difference in every child's life. I also taught Sunday School and worked with children in church for the past 20+ years.
I met my husband of 37 years in church. We have a daughter, son, and two wonderful grandchildren.
Sunday School Ministry
There's not many limits on things I like to do. Biking, camping, gardening, fishing, chess, games, travel. I love to try new things, including foods. I always say, "I'll try anything twice".
I was born in Ohio. Spent some time living in Texas, then West Virginia and have now settled back into the Dayton area. I am blessed with 5 children, first my daughter then her 4 younger brothers.I love spending time with & playing with my kids and now my 3 grandchildren who are just the best gifts!
As a mother of an autistic and epileptic son, I have learned to be an advocate for children. I spent a lot of time in the school system and I was able to learn from where I was placed. I took an active role in writing Jacob's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), and became a member of the Montgomery County Educational Service Center on the positive behavior and support team.
I was not raised directly in the church, when I was little, my Grandmother would pick me up once in a while on Saturday's for an overnight stay and take me with her for Sunday school and church service at Tytus Avenue First Church of God. Those memories of Sunday school never left me. I'm thankful for my God loving grandma & those Sunday School classes. For a few years I taught Sunday School at Carlisle First Church of God.
All of this has prepared me for where I am today. I feel very blessed and honored to be able to work in our church and serve as the Sunday School Superintendent. God most definitely knows the path He prepares for us even when we can't see why we're going through situations, later when He shows us, we have those, "aha" moments smile and think, now I get it. Thank you, Lord. For everything.
I was born and raised in Eastern Kentucky and some of my fondest memories are of playing outside in the woods and creeks with my brothers and cousins. I moved to Dayton, OH in 1999 in hopes of better opportunities for a good job.
My first job was through a temp agency and only lasted a couple of months. Fortunately, I was able to find another job quickly and it was at that company that I met David, my husband. David and I have been married since 2001 and have an amazing blended family. ;David has two sons, Bryan(36) and Conner(17). David and I share Zachary(9) through open adoption.
We have two wonderful grandchildren Alaya(13) and Jameson(7). God has pieced our family together perfectly and I feel beyond blessed to have each of them.
I have always felt God’s presence and calling in my life. My parents and grandmother always taught us right from wrong and of God’s Word, however, attending church was not a commitment in our family during my childhood. I was saved at a young age but without the commitment to church, I failed to grow as a follower of Christ and eventually fell back into my sinful ways.
After David and I had been married for about a year I felt God calling me and I wanted us to find a church. We found our home at Moraine City First Church of God in 2003 when we gave our hearts to The Lord. I am honored to serve God as the youth leader and as a Sunday school teacher.
I am a faithful follower of my savior the Lord Jesus Christ, to whom I give all the glory. He has blessed me with a wonderful wife, a son and a daughter, and 3 wonderful grandsons. I am so excited to be serving as the leader of the bus ministry. I want to be an instrument that God can use to further his Kingdom!
I love to cook, am an avid barbecue pit master, and I love my Ohio State Buckeyes! Go Bucks!
